Hi everyone,
By the end of every week, I always come to one conclusion: how poor an English teacher I was! That is what I really feel. In Sudan there goes a proverb : once you feel you are satisfied of your knowledge, it will be the countdown of your intellectuality. Donna's Webskills course is, I believe, the "countup" of my knowledge, so to speak.
several new skills are mastered this week; access to countless useful web links are made available for us. To name some, creating Delicious web page is the most appealing, technology-enhanced lesson planning is another asset and several materials on teaching writing, reading and vocabulary are accessed, read and critically evaluated.
Lesson plan from the "Innovative Technology Centre at the University of Tennessee" is a comprehensive lesson plan for teachers. But I found it, somehow, full of guides that teachers might find it difficult to incorporate all those guides in a lesson. Again, the ready-made lesson plans I came across are useful. However, each time I come across one of these I start asking myself: How can I compromise the between the luring web-based materials and the specific needs and objectives I have to achieve within the broader goals set in the curriculum/syllabus that I have to confine myself to?

Hi Garri,
ReplyDeleteYou are absolutely right when you say that a person is satisfied with his/her knowledge is the end of his/her intellectuality. That means we stop growing professionally.
My best wishes for you,
Esteban Mallqui.
Hello again Garri,
ReplyDeleteI made a mistake because I was writing very fast. The comment is that you are absolutely right when you say that if a person feels satisfied with his/her knowledge,it is the end of his/her intellectuality bacause he/she stops growing professionally.
my best wishes for you.

Hi Garri,
ReplyDeleteI am glad to have this opportunity to say hello to you for the first time and also to share some thoughts with you sometimes.
Well, my feeling with this course online is that I need to learn new things so I can create a connection with my learners. They seem to be born with tech-skills hahahaha and I feel like I am way behind what they know about technology and technological devices, it's just so funny when I read a text message from my young nieces and nephews because I just don't understand!
However, I don't believe that you are a poor professional, or any of us are; with your experience and all!
It is probably just this generation we are trying to live in and teach, it is so different from ours.
We must find connections so we can communicate with them, and this course is a great opportunity to find new ideas. We as everything else just need to re-think, reflect, re-do our processes and re-adapt to new scenarios, with our experience and our interest to do it, I am 100% sure we will succeed.
Best wishes,
Letty
Hi teacher
ReplyDeleteIt is my pleasure to post on your blog. I agree with you that Donna gives us what do we need as teachers in this time. I think it is different time in the past they were studying English without technology and they tried their best to get the language but now the new learners depends on technology so we are learning the time language what is technology.

Hi Garri,
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice saying you shared with us in your blog. I'm sure I'll never achieve interlectuality as I'm always hungry for more stuff!!! As you have clearly mentioned, these days I'm amazed to see all the resources we come across, full of new & interesting things to do in teaching & learning. But I have the same doubt. With all the constrains, set syllabi & curriculum, how can we add all these new ideas to teach in a different way!

hi Garri!
ReplyDelete"Countup!" - I like the phrase. Life is short and there seems to be so much out there to learn and unlearn!

Hello Garri,
ReplyDeleteI shared with you the same feelings since the time I started the webskills course. Looking at the outputs of our friends here, I feel that I still have so much to learn from the course to be able to cope and be with the same pace as they are. But one important lesson I gained here is to consider everyone a source of learning and inspiration.
Let me share to you as well a quote from an anonymous author:
"The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part, just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle. The essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well."
You did a good fight and it matters most.
My best regards,
REBECCA
Hi Garri
ReplyDeleteCool quote. As you said lesson plan was very helpful, I would one thing that getting into the habit of making lessons plans is also important to be a successful teacher.
